Former Man City and England youth footballer 'raped woman, 19, who was so drunk she was incapable of stringing a sentence together after night out in seaside resort'

Former Man City and England youth footballer allegedly raped a 19-year-old woman, who was so drunk she was incapable of stringing a sentence together, after a night out at a popular seaside resort.
George Glendon, 22, is accused of raping the young woman after meeting her at a nightclub in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire.
Glendon, now at Fleetwood Town, played against Leicester City in the FA Cup on Saturday before his trial started at Grimsby Crown Court yesterday.
He appeared in the dock wearing a dark suit, white shirt and a light blue tie.
The opening to the trial heard the 19-year-old woman had been drinking heavily on the night of the incident and Glendon had helped her into a taxi before being driven to his friend's house in Humberston.
Glendon, from Cheadle in Greater Manchester, denies he then raped the woman after the night out on February 21, 2016.
The court heard the woman could recall little about the incident except for being in a bedroom with a man she did not recognise and being kissed and touched intimately.
Michael Morley, prosecuting, said in police interviews Glendon claimed that the woman indicated that she did want to have sex and had initiated the encounter.
But Mr Morley claimed, because of her condition and the amount she had drunk, the woman, now 21, was not in a position to choose whether to have sex or not.
Mr Morley told the court that the woman had been drinking wine and cider.
She went to the Lite House after visiting other bars but had no memory of leaving it.
